| This 145,200 square foot building sits on a 168,720 square foot site. The arena consists of nine levels below the roof. Levels 1 and 2, which are mostly below street elevation are mainly a health club with some mechanical, electrical and loading dock areas. The health club has 2 gymnasiums, 12 racquetball courts, a lap pool, whirlpools, a jogging track, exercise rooms and 12,000 lockers. Levels 3 through 9 make up the arena. Level 3 is the arena floor and is at street level. Level 4 has a skyway link to two parking ramps and a future skyway link to the remainder of the Minneapolis skyway system. Levels 5 and 7 are concourses for the lower and upper seating areas. Level 6 has 68 private suites which encircle the entire arena. The roof is 134 feet above the arena floor. The arena seats 18,800 for basketball and 17,500 for hockey. All seats have an unobstructed view of the floor. The arena is built as a multiple use facility. Along with basketball and hockey, the arena may be used for many other sporting and nonsporting events including concerts, the circus, rodeos, tractor pulls, indoor soccer and boxing. |
